Walnut Creek is located about 30 minutes northeast of San Francisco off Highway 680. The city encompasses nearly 20 square miles and has a population of approximately 69,000. San Francisco and the world famous Napa Valley wine region are less than an hour away. Just a couple of hours drive to the east is spectacular Lake Tahoe and the historic gold country in the Sierra Foothills. Closer to home, a thousand miles of Delta Waterways provide the sailor, boater and fisherman with unlimited opportunities. The Pacific Coast Highway, both north and south of San Francisco, provide some of the most beautiful scenic drives in the world.
Shopping opportunities abound with everything from quaint little specialty boutiques to top of the line department stores. Restaurants offer a wide variety of choices from French bistros, Japanese sushi bars and American pizza parlors, and even treats from Morocco, Vietnam, Indonesia, East India and Mexico. Some of these restaurants are designed with sidewalk cafes for dining al fresco, while others offer musical entertainment. Cultural opportunities are also abundant with venues such as the Regional Center for the Arts enriching the community with concerts, dances, and dramatic productions.
Today, Walnut Creek is one of the most desired communities in the Bay Area. Thanks to careful planning and an actively involved community, Walnut Creek should continue to maintain its quality of life well into the 21st century.
